The DFG Research Training Group “Scientific Computation:

Application-oriented Modelling and Development of Algorithms” of the Paderborn Institute for Scientific Computation (PaSCo) at the University of Paderborn was installed for a maximum period of 9 years until the end of March, 2010. Additional funding is only available for the existing PhD students to finish their PhD project until the end of March, 2011. Therefore, applications for this program are no longer accepted. Please contact the professors of the PaSCo or of the PACE directly for alternative scholarships.

 

The DFG Research Training Group (in German: Graduiertenkolleg) is financed by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) and the University of Paderborn.

 

The subject area of the Research Training Group is the overlap between Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, and the Natural Sciences. The research projects are geared towards interdisciplinary research within the wide area of Scientific Computation. This comprises the range from mathematical modeling to the design of numerical and symbolical methods and algorithms for scientific problems. Besides tasks from Engineering and the Natural Sciences this also includes basic research on Algorithms and Complexity.
